BURNS NIGHT Friday 3rd February

ADVANCE NOTICE

The craic is coming to Caissargues on the 3rd February, as BritsNimes invites you
to its first ever Burns Night!

To celebrate the biggest event in the Scottish calendar, we’ll be putting on a
traditional three course meal, bagpipes, a Burns recital and a ceilidh, to ward off the
winter blues!

The haggis will be imported from Scotland for the occasion, and accompanied by
a live performance on the bagpipes and some lovely local wines. The ceilidh will
include lots of well known Scottish traditional pieces and even a caller – so no
excuses not to get on the dancefloor!

Dinner and Dance ticket (including 1⁄2 bottle of wine): 25€
Dance only Ticket (including 1⁄2 bottle of wine): 10 € (Student Price: 7€)

Nimes Pub Night

Our monthly pub night as at the Ever'in, 1 place Severine halfway up the Jean Jaures, Nimes.

We meet the last Thursday of the month from 9pm onwards.

Come and have a glass of wine and a chat in English.

The Walking Club

Our next walk takes place on Wednesday 8th February, meeting at 9.45am and commencing the walk at 10.00am

La Tour de guet de La Liquiere

This walk takes us to the summit of la Liquiere at a height of 120m giving a panoramic view.

Approximately 6km in distance and will take just over two hours.

Directions and Parking: The village of Sinsans is at the end of the D401. Take the Nimes – Sommieres road D40 . Near Calvisson take D1 towards Saint-Come. After 2km take turning to Sinsans. At crossroads at entry to village this will be the starting point of the walk. Find parking as available.

Difficulty: The walk is suitable for all abilities with a well-defined path for much of the walk. It is likely that at the latter part of the walk the ground could be muddy following the recent rain but hopefully will dry by next week. Strong waterproof footwear is recommended.

Walkers are advised to wear clothing suitable to the weather conditions on the day and to carry drinking water.

Uzes Coffee Morning

Each 3rd Wednesday of the month we have the Coffee morning in Uzès at 10.30am at le Bengali in the Place Albert Premier near the tourist office.

In the Winter and on cold or wet days in the room upstairs (stairs at far end of the bar). Outside in the Summer.

Ballet; ALICE'S ADVENTURES in WONDERLAND

This exciting and highly innovative new ballet based on Lewis Carrol's ever-popular story, is a joy for old and young alike.

It was created by Christopher Wheel for the Royal Ballet - the first new work to be commissioned by the company for two decades.

Nothing but superlatives, principal ballerina - Lauren Cuthberson, score by Joby Talbot and breathaking choreography combine to confirm London's reputation as music capital of the world.

BRITISH SCREEN FESTIVAL at NIMES

We have arranged a private screening for our members at the Semaphone Cinema, of 'TOAST'.

The price is 4 euros per person to be paid in cash on the day.

We chose 'Toast' for several reasons; is not a 'great' Oscar winning film but the main subject is food. It is set in the austere England of the 50's when England was slowly coming off food 'rationing' and when the food was boring and monotonous.

Although the subject is austere, this is a thoroughly enjoyable film: an English situation comedy full of bitter irony and faithful to a bygone age that we think we know so well

The Craft Club

Meets on a Thursday every second month. Usually in Combas.

This months craft club is on Thursday January 19th. We are going to make things for your valentine. Cards, post cards, book covers in card and fabric.
