History of BritsNîmes

A little history of BritsNîmes

The Association BritsNîmes was founded in 2002 by Robin Boxall.

He and a group of friends were aware that there was a need for a social network for English speaking people in the Gard where they could meet, get help and advice and exchange their experiences of life in France.

To be able to meet, three events were organised every month, a Walking Club, a Restaurant Club and a Book Club. These are still the pillars of our Association.

It started out with mainly British members, but soon French people began to join as well..
Often they had lived abroad, retired in the Gard and wanted to keep up their English.

And then the ball started rolling, other English speakers from many countries who had settled here started also to join.

BritsNîmes is now an Association with over 250 members of more than 20 different nationalities. It has become a truly international community. The place to meet and make new friends.

We are there for each other.

BritsNîmes Photo Competition 2016

Photo Competition 2021

The subject for this year’s Photo Competition is simply
That’s anything where colour is the main feature of the image - flowers, bright Provençal pottery, a boldly painted building, a stained-glass window, etc - and your entry can be taken anywhere in the world, indoors or outdoors.
You don't need to be a keen photographer or have expensive equipment to produce good photos.  It’s the picture that matters, and remember that the finalists will be selected by an online poll of BritsNîmes’ members - so if you like the photo, other members will probably like it as well!
Your photo(s) must have been taken during 2021, and please send them as email attachments addressed to :
The deadline for the Photo Competition is
midnight on Sunday 7 November – just one more week to go!
You can enter a maximum of five photos per member (and if you’ve already submitted more than five, you’ll receive an email reminding you of your entries and asking which ones you want to remove). When entries have closed, you’ll be able to vote for your favourites and pick the winners.
By way of a quick recap, this year’s subject is simply
– anything colourful you see, indoors or out.
The rules are simple:
  • The photo must have been taken by a BritsNîmes member
  • It must have been taken this year
  • It must be attached to an email and sent to photos@britsnimes.com by 7 November 2021
